This work, aiming to pay tribute to Philippe Hamon’s critical work, reunites thirty-eight contributions. In the wake of Philippe Hamon’researches, authors explore the ‘scenes’ – spaces, figures, topos – where the realistic narrative is build. This common issue enlightens in an original way great poetic questions: the ‘architecture’ of the work and its context, the narrative and the descriptive, the character and his habitation, the ‘commonplaces’ of social speech and its denunciations through irony. This volume finally examines the limits of the realistic aesthetic, seeking to perceive its vanishing points in the 19th century literary field.
